Computational facilities

  • Workstations. Each workstation is a Dell Precision Workstation T7400 nSeries in the following configuration: 2 x Quad Core Intel® Xeon® Processor E5410 (2.33 GHz, 2 X 6M L2, 1333); 32, 48 or 96GB DDR2 SDRAM FBD Memory, 667MHz, ECC (8 DIMMS); 2 x 750GB SATA 3.0Gb/s,7200 RPM Hard Drive with 16MB DataBurst Cache™; Dell 19 inch UltraSharp™ 1907FPV Flat Panel; Red Hat Enterprise Linux WS v5 for EM64T.
  • 512-cpu Linux cluster "Noor" (CCRC resource). A medium sized linux cluster, dedicated to small and medium sized project development. The cluster is an IBM System Cluster 1350, based on 64 x 8-way Intel Xeon nodes.
  • Software. The group holds licenses to a number of software pieces: Intel Fortran, C/C++ compilers, IBM XL Fortran, C/C++ compilers, Totalview parallel debugger, Ensight Gold visualization software, Tecplot 360, ANSYS CFD, ICME, and Gambit, CHEMKIN, Mathematica, MATLAB with toolboxes, etc.
  • Computing facilities external to RFML. The research members can leverage KAUST's exceptional computational resources, including the Blue Gene/P system Shaheen​ (65,536 compute cores) and the advanced visualization Virtual Environment Cornea​, as well as a direct connection into the worldwide research networks (Internet2 & GEANT2).
